Challenge

For linking tooling machines, the workpiece needed to be moved to different clamping positions. To do this, the workpiece needed to be turned (reoriented) in the gripper.

Solution

Using standard swivel units of the Zimmer Group together with a standard long stroke gripper, it was possible to turn the workpiece in the gripped state and thus supply it to the next clamping situation in the proper position. The rotation takes place during non-productive time (travel time of the gantry) without any loss of cycle time for the customer. The gripper position is secured using a clamp from Zimmer Group.
