The new guideZ for Robots interface offers an innovative solution for universal robots that is without parallel. It makes setup and operation of cobots and actuators even easier.
Free selection from an extensive IO-Link gripper range
It does not matter which grippers you have, since all IO-Link gripper components can be used and, thanks to a uniform interface, they are highly compatible with cobots from Universal Robots. As a gateway for the end effector, the integrated SCM communication module communicates with the robot control system, thus ensuring complete, easy activation of the end effector – reliably and without faults.

Intuitive software for efficient setup and operation
The Comfort app, tailored to fit to Universal Robots, makes it possible to activate and commission the gripper conveniently and directly using the particular robot control panel (teach pendant). Easy to set up, including necessary commands for efficient programming and smooth automatic operation. With the help of the intuitive software tools from Zimmer Group, intelligent grippers can be configured and trained. In this process, guideZ for Robot provides independent configuration and programming with the teach pendant, without any programming skills required. There is no need for external cable routing, since the power supply and activation of the end effector occur directly through the robot interface.
Cobots from Universal Robots and components from the Zimmer Group also offer a solution for applications that require a higher gripping force. Here, the Smart Communication Module (SCM) combined with the Comfort app and intuitive software ensure easy, smooth programming from a laptop. The prepared software blocks enable fast setup of automated work steps in just a few guided steps, without any need for in-depth programming skills. Detailed fine adjustments can also be made as needed. The SCM from Zimmer Group translates the IO-Link communication system into digital inputs and outputs (Digital I/O) and vice versa, thus ensuring data transfer to the robot control system for a variety of information. For optimal setup of the information exchange, the connection can be made specifically for the particular robot via the ready-to-connect cable for Universal Robots components.

Susanne Nördinger: "Now, regarding UR Plus, the whole thing has gotten a bit bigger, since here, we are working with companies, with partner companies. This means that we also have to take the strategies and changes that happen at our partner companies and include them in our own strategy. And so the exciting thing about an ecosystem, of course, is that there we can work on developments and things that are happening not only at Universal Robots but also at the partner companies and bring everything together – doing this in a way that it ultimately has the greatest benefit for our customers."
